Meals Program

  • CLIENT: OUR PLACE SOCIETY

  • SERVICE: VIDEO PRODUCTION

  • SCHEDULE: 4 WEEKS

  • BUDGET: $2,000-$3,000

We were fortunate to be invited back by Our Place Society for this year's Hungry Hearts Gala fundraiser video featuring their Meals Program. Did you know that nearly 700,000 meals have been served at Our Place in the past year? That's over 1,500 meals a day, and many mouths to feed. And no matter what your stance on poverty and homelessness may be, no one can deny how invaluable this service is in our city.

Once again we featured two stories for this video - David, who has been a chef in Our Place's kitchen for years, and Ian, a family member who relies on these meals. It was an honour to meet these men and share their stories, while talking about the way their lives have been interconnected by the shelter. In the video, we demonstrated this relationship by first showing the behind-the-scenes prep in the kitchen with David, followed by greeting Ian at the counter to provide him with his breakfast.

Our video was played before the live auction at the Hungry Hearts Gala, and we're thrilled to report that this year they raised $105,000!

Our Place Stories

  • CLIENT: OUR PLACE SOCIETY

  • SERVICE: VIDEO PRODUCTION

  • LENGTH: 4 MINUTES

  • BUDGET: $2,000-$3,000

Over the course of the last ten years, the Our Place Society has become a fixture of the downtown Victoria community. Their Pandora Street facility and staff serves over 1,200 meals per day, along with hot showers, free clothing, counseling and outreach services, and transitional housing units. But most importantly, they provide a sense of hope and belonging to those living on the streets.

As part of their annual fundraising campaign, the society hosts the Hungry Hearts Gala, this year at the beautiful Inn at Laurel Point. The Our Place team asked us to produce a video feature that could help showcase the Employment Program, which was the beneficiary of the silent and live auction at the event.

We jumped at the opportunity to help out, and soon met with Rosie & Gordon, who both allowed us the chance to sit down and hear their stories in a very personal and intimate way. It takes a lot of courage to get in front of a camera and talk about your hardships, but we're glad they did.

With their voices to set the tone for the evening, the live auction alone raised more than $35,000 for the Employment Program at Our Place! We'll also have a video recap of the incredible Hungry Hearts event coming soon.
