Championship Game in November Rain

Our team was lucky enough to cover the 2023 CJFL Canadian Bowl held at Starlight Stadium in November 2023. The Canadian Bowl has been awarded to the top junior football team in Canada for over a century, and the 2023 iteration was hosted by the Westshore Rebels, a BC Football Conference team we’ve had the pleasure of working with for numerous years in covering their home games. We ramped up our coverage for the national championship game by introducing a panel element to the show, hosted by CHEK News anchor Andy Neal, which set the stage for the game in a pre-game show and also carried the coverage through video packages and previews to inform the viewers of the stakes of the game as well as how both teams paved their way to the title game. Our in-game coverage also added new layers with a custom graphics package that included player statistic cards to highlight the big-name players on the field. Outdoor sports in November always have a chance to be ugly, and howling winds and sideways rain attempted to derail our broadcast, but our camera operators on the field stood their ground and (through a handful of lens wipes) managed to soldier on and capture the big game. Our crew provided great pictures throughout the game all the way to the Canadian Bowl being awarded at the end of the night.
